Recently you may have received a text or email stating it was from a usccu.org email address, telling you a card would be blocked, and asking you to provide personal account information or your account would be deleted. This is fraudulent and was not sent by the credit union. DO NOT RESPOND. DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS. DELETE IMMEDIATELY!
US Community Credit Union will never ask you to provide personal account information via unsolicited texts or email messages.
Think Before You Click
If a text message or an email looks suspicious or is from an unknown source, do not click on any links, provide any information, or open any attachments. Clicking on a link in a smishing or phishing message could take you to a phony website asking for your account number, password, and other personal information. Or it might download spyware into your computer or mobile device. Don’t click on attachments or pictures unless you are sure of the source, since they can also carry spyware.
Fraud By Phone
Phone scammers will sometimes try to get your personal information over the phone by using tactics similar to the ones they use online. Beware of anybody who calls you asking for your personal information, such as account numbers. We already have this information and shouldn’t be asking you for them. If you call us, we will need to ask for your account number and to verify your information. And if you get a voicemail from them, asking you to call back, verify their identity first by looking up the number on our website or by calling our member service line at 615-256-8712 to confirm.
EnFact
We do use a Fraud Prevention Service known as EnFact, to help protect our members from fraudulent activity on credit and debit cards. You may be notified by EnFact that suspicious transactions, or transactions outside your normal spending pattern, have been noticed on your US Community Credit Union Visa® credit or debit card. Please be assured US Community Credit Union does have a Fraud Prevention strategy that monitors activity for normal and new fraud patterns. If you will be traveling, please call us to let us know of your travel dates so EnFact will know the transactions outside of your normal area are legitimate.
The valid numbers for EnFact are listed below. Please contact us directly at 615-256-8712 if you have any questions on a phone call or message you have received.
Credit Card notifications: 1-800-279-2674
Debit Card notifications: 1-866-750-9107 and 1-877-372-3495
You may want to save these numbers in your phone, so you will recognize these numbers if they ever come up on your phone.
If you receive such a communication, US Community Credit Union encourages you to report it:
For questionable emails, forward the email to us at info@usccu.org for review and delete the unsolicited email without clicking on links or opening attachments.
For questionable text messages or phone calls, advise us by calling our Member Service Line at 615-256-8712 or 1-800-304-3436.
