Our History

Eleven VA Hospital employees each pay $5.25 to form a credit union. In a little over a year, assets grow to nearly $25,000.

Nashville VA Credit Union changes its name to US Courthouse Credit Union. All federal employees living or headquartered in Davidson County become eligible for membership.

Assets exceed $1 million and USCCU becomes the first credit union in Tennessee to own its own building.

The times are turbulent, but USCCU members are secure with over $4.3 million in shares and $4 million in loans.

More and more people enjoy the unique benefits of a credit union as the number of members swells to more than 13,000.

Personal, new and used cars, home equity, share secured, and boat loans total more than $33 million – members know they get the best value on a USCCU loan.

USCCU now offers checking accounts, IRAs, home equity lines of credit, and buys its first ATM – USCCU continually looks for new and better ways to serve the members.

USCCU welcomes the city employees of Nashville with the merger of Metro Employees Credit Union. USCCU gets its first branch with a drive-thru. Continuing to expand its footprint, USCCU also opens a branch in Hickory Hollow.

US Courthouse changes its name to US Community Credit Union to reflect its new community-based field of membership. We are now open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Davidson, Rutherford, or Wilson Counties.

USCCU opens a new branch in Mt. Juliet to better serve the residents of Wilson County.

USCCU expands the field of membership again. We are now proud to also serve Sumner and Williamson Counties.

USCCU opens its first student run branch at McGavock High School.

USCCU expands the Metro branch to better serve the members within Downtown Nashville. The expansion doubles the size of the branch, while increasing its drive thru abilities.

A new branch is opened in an old spot. USCCU opens a branch inside the Estes Kefauver Federal Building, the same place the credit union operated back in the early days.

USCCU opens a branch in Donelson to give even more convenience in Davidson County.

USCCU opens its second student run branch at Hillsboro High School.

USCCU expands the field of membership to include the entire Nashville MSA. We are now proud to also serve Cannon, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Maury, Robertson, Smith, or Trousdale Counties.

USCCU launches the Mobile Branch to better serve the communities in our expanded 14-county footprint.

USCCU is continuing to grow in the communities we serve and proud to provide such great service to our members.

What is a Credit Union?

Credit Unions are member-owned cooperatives…

Credit unions are owned and operated by their members who pool their savings and lend to each other. Serving members is the reason credit unions exist.

Credit unions are not-for-profit…

There are no outside shareholders; credit unions are owned by the people who save and borrow there. Earnings are returned to the members in the form of lower-rate loans, higher dividends on savings and investments, fewer fees, and better service to members.

Credit unions are volunteer-driven…

Our volunteer board of directors are elected by and from our membership. The credit union philosophy is “people helping people”.

Simply put – credit unions save you money, help you achieve your financial goals, and give you the kind of service you deserve!

Open to the Public

US Community Credit Union membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers, or attends school in and businesses and legal entities located in Davidson, Rutherford, Wilson, Williamson, Sumner, Cannon, Cheatham, Dickson, Hickman, Macon, Maury, Robertson, Smith, or Trousdale counties, or anyone who becomes a member of Friends of Monroe Carrell Jr. Children’s Hospital At Vanderbilt.* Members of the immediate family or household members may also be members of the credit union.
